Description

The brick Evangelical church on Reszka Square was built for Buk's German Protestant population in the first half of the 19th century and consecrated on 31 August 1845. After the Second World War the Evangelical parish ceased to exist. In the late 1950s the authorities decided to adapt the decaying church for cultural use; the work took over a decade and on 22 July 1970 the "Wielkopolanin" cinema opened inside it. Today the building houses the cinema, the municipal library and — in the basement — the Museum Room of the Buk Region. With the Catholic parish church, the wooden Church of the Holy Cross and the synagogue it completes the picture of multi-faith Buk before 1945.
