Description

Mury ("Walls") Street runs as a ring around the medieval core of Buk, marking the former edge of the town chartered under Magdeburg law in 1289. Its name and course suggest the town's defences once followed this line; the fortifications themselves have not survived and their form is not documented. Over time buildings, and this street, took over the perimeter. Along it stand the former Jewish community's buildings – the synagogue and the Talmud school. Walking Mury Street, you circle the historic town along its original edge.
